Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what estimate he has made of the number of midwives to be recruited in (a) the London Borough of Newham, (b) Greater London and (c) the UK up to 2020.

Information relating to the number of midwives to be recruited in the London Borough of Newham and Greater London is not held centrally by the Department.
In the 2016/17 Workforce Plan for England, Health Education England (HEE) estimates the future demand for qualified midwives in England by 2020 will be 24,628.
