Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, pursuant to the Answer of 31 January 2017 to Question 61344 on prisons: electronic equipment, what information her Department holds on the number of (a) game consoles and (b) televisions in prisons.

Some 19,000 television sets were issued to public sector prisons in the 12 month period ending on 28 February 2017. This is fairly standard and costs are recovered from the rental payments made by prisoners. However, information on the numbers of games consoles and televisions in use within prisons is not held centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
