The majority of recruits joining the Army Reserve are untrained. The following tables are an extract from official statistics published quarterly at the following link:

They show the trained strength of the Army Reserve and a break down of the intake to the Army Reserve for 2012-13 onwards. Due to a lack of validated figures prior to 2012 it is not possible to include figures before that period.

The number of trained direct entrants into the Army Reserve includes former Regular Service personnel (joining within six years of leaving the Regulars), former Army Reserve personnel who have chosen to rejoin within six years of leaving, as well as other trained intake such those from the University Officer Training Corps.
