Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, with reference to page 26 of Budget 2017, how the £130 million in additional capital to sustainable and transformation plans (STPs) was calculated; and what proportion of the total capital requirement of STPs that represents.

The additional capital investment budget available to the Department for Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STP) is £325 million spread equally over the years 2017-18 to 2019-20. The numbers shown in Table 2.1 of the Budget Document include Barnett consequentials for the devolved administrations.

The amount of this investment as an overall proportion of the STP capital requirements is not clear as it will be partly covered by existing capital resources available in an STP area and their ability to raise receipts.
