Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, with reference to the Women's Health Strategy, what the evidential basis was for the commitment to greater transparency of national IVF provision.

Integrated care boards (ICBs) are responsible for decisions on the provision of local health services, which should be based on the clinical needs of the local population. We expect ICBs to commission fertility services taking account of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence’s fertility guidelines to ensure equal access to treatment. ICBs publish local commissioning policies and statements online. For fertility services, this will be published in a single location to allow patients to view the level of service offered locally and compare performance in England.
