Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will hold discussions with Cabinet colleagues on the potential merits of amending the gestation limit for a baby to be considered for birth and death certificates.

The Government has no plans to amend the gestation limit for a baby to be considered for birth and death certificates.

The Pregnancy Loss Review, due to be published this year, will consider the impact on families of the current threshold of 24 weeks gestation before being able to formally register a miscarriage if they so wish.
