NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) is a joint venture between the Secretary of State for Health and the outsourcing company, Sopra Steria, which specialises in providing efficient “back office” functions for National Health Service bodies. NHS SBS is profitable, but has yet to pay a dividend to either owner, instead retaining cash to invest in developing the business.
