Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if his Department will update the assessment criteria for blue badge parking permit qualifications to cover people with degenerative medical conditions.

Applications to the Blue Badge scheme are not dependent upon condition but are based on the need of the applicant to park closer to their destination. People with degenerative medical conditions could receive a badge if they meet the eligibility criteria.

It is for the relevant local authority to decide if an applicant is eligible for a Blue Badge. The Department has no plans to change the eligibility criteria.
