Assisting offenders to secure suitable accommodation upon their release is a vital part of the Government’s approach to reducing reoffending.

Through the commencement of the Homelessness Reduction Act (2017) and DCLG laying a statutory instrument. Prisons and Probation providers will be subject to the new duty to refer to the local housing authority someone who they support who might be at risk of becoming homeless.

We continue to work with all providers to help make sure offenders get the support they need to find accommodation and employment on release.
