Personnel from all three Services have been involved in Operation SHADER, the name given to UK operations to counter-ISIL in Iraq and Syria. The UK has permission to fly manned Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft, as well as Reaper unmanned aircraft, over Syria.

In addition, a number of UK personnel are embedded with our coalition partners; these personnel are operating as members of those nations' military.
