The Treasury Communications team is managed by the Chancellor’s spokesperson who is a civil servant and was therefore recruited in line with principles of Civil Service Recruitment. The Chancellor has appointed a special adviser to be his Director of Communications, who does not manage any civil servants. Special Adviser appointments are made in line with the Ministerial Code and Code of Conduct for Special Advisers.
