Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what steps his Department took to ensure that any action taken by RAF aircraft in the English Channel did not contravene the United Nations Convention for the Law of the Sea.

Legal and specialist advice is sought prior to the provision of Defence support. In the rendering of assistance to the Home Office to counter the illegal migration of people into the UK every legal advice was sought prior to any deployment of Defence assets.
