Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what assessment he has made of the implications for his policies of the Royal Navy having two fewer frigates in 2025 than was envisaged in Joint Force 2025.

This question was answered on 14th December 2021

HMS MONMOUTH and HMS MONTROSE, had been due to enter planned maintenance and operational regeneration cycles from 2023 which would in any event have impacted their availability in 2025. Frigate availability more broadly will be maintained through the extension of the three General Purposes Type 23s.
