Question to the HM Treasury:
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, hat assessment she has made of the potential impact of Government intervention on food prices on farmers.
The government has announced that we are suspending tariffs on food to bring down prices for consumers.
The list of products for which tariff suspensions are proposed takes account of domestic production and food security and does not include any significant UK primary agriculture production. We therefore expect no significant impact on the prices that farmers are paid from these tariff suspensions. The list of products is subject to further engagement with the farming industry and other stakeholders.
