The Government is firmly committed to ensuring that transgender offenders are treated fairly, lawfully and decently, and their rights respected.

A revised instruction, drawing on the conclusions on the Ministry of Justice’s review into the management and care of transgender offenders, was published on 9 November. This is already being applied, with full implementation by 1 January 2017.
