Question to the Ministry of Justice:
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many people have been prosecuted and convicted under the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016 (a) in total and (b) for offences involving nitrous oxide since the commencement of that Act.
In 2016, there were 28 convictions in England and Wales under the Psychoactive Substances Act. Data on Psychoactive Substances prosecutions can be found on https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/criminal-justice-system-statistics-quarterly-december-2016.
The information requested for those offences involving nitrous oxide is not held centrally and could not be obtained without incurring disproportionate cost.
