Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what proportion of major defence programmes have exceeded their original cost estimates in the last ten years.

We inherited considerable delays and cost overruns on a large number of defence procurement projects. We are working to address those through measures set ot in the Defence Industrial Strategy. Further announcements will come as part of the Defence Investment Plan.
