Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the research conducted by Amnesty International Continuing Lack of Adequate Medical Care in Bahrain's Prisons, published on 28 September, which found that 11 political prisoners suffering from serious medical conditions were deliberately denied treatment and that oversight bodies repeatedly failed to provide effective protection or remedy in cases of human rights violations.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office notes the report by Amnesty International published on 28 September. We continue to closely monitor events in Bahrain and where we have concerns, including on prison conditions, we raise them with the Bahraini authorities.
We continue to encourage the oversight bodies to carry out swift and thorough investigations into any such claims.
