Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask Her Majesty's Government what was the role of the Department for Transport in the conception of the proposed railcard for 16 and 17 year olds; and what was the role of Train Operating Companies in its development.
This question was answered on 28th January 2019
The Government initiated and led discussions with industry regarding the possible options for providing discounted travel to young people. We will continue to work with train operating companies and the RDG to develop and implement the 16-17 railcard.
