Doctors and Nurses: Recruitment

Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the number of extra (1) doctors, and (2) nurses, that will be needed to clear backlogs in the NHS.

The Government plans to spend more than £8 billion from 2022/23 to 2024/25 to tackle elective waiting lists. We are working closely with NHS England and NHS Improvement to develop a plan for how that funding will be used, including workforce requirements.
