Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many people were recruited to the regular army, navy and airforce over the last six months; and how those numbers compare to targets for such recruitment.

Intake comprises new entrants, re-entrants, and intake from the Reserves. It excludes all movements within the Regular Forces; including flows from the untrained to trained strength, transfers between Services and flows from Ranks to Officer due to promotion.

UK Regulars are full time Service personnel, including Nursing Services, but excluding Full Time Reserve Service personnel, Gurkhas, mobilised Reservists, Military Provost Guarding Service, Locally Engaged Personnel, and Non Regular Permanent Service.
