Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many regulars there were in the armed forces on 31 December in (1) 2009, (2) 2010, (3) 2011, (4) 2012, (5) 2013, (6) 2014, and (7) 2015.
The information is not held in the format requested. However, the table below shows the total number of UK Forces Service personnel, the number of Regular personnel and the number of Volunteer Reserve personnel as at 1 April each year for the years 2009 to 2015.
Prior to 1 April 2012 statistics for UK Forces Service Personnel were not held in a format suitable to answer the question. However some of this information is available on line at the following link:
