Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the upcoming elections in Bahrain following the recent decision by King Hamad to ban political opposition groups.

The UK closely follows events in Bahrain. We continue to monitor legislation on the limitation on certain individuals standing in Parliamentary elections. The UK continues to encourage the Government of Bahrain to ensure upcoming elections are transparent, fair and inclusive.
