Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, whether he is taking steps to strengthen HM Embassy in Tel Aviv.

Both our Embassy in Tel Aviv and Consulate-General in Jerusalem remain staffed and continue to provide consular services to British nationals who require assistance. A rapid deployment team has also been sent to Israel to bolster the efforts of British consular officials.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, how many staff work at the UK embassy in Israel.

To ask Her Majesty's Government what plans they have, if any, to move the British Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The British Embassy to Israel is based in Tel Aviv. The UK's position on the status of Jerusalem is that it should be determined through a negotiated settlement between the Israelis and the Palestinians and that Jerusalem should ultimately be the shared capital of the Israeli and Palestinian states.

The British Embassy to Israel is based in Tel Aviv and we have no plans to move it.
