Exempt all state pensions and benefits from income tax - 20,314 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 20,899 - 20 added in the past 24hrs)

We believe that pensions and benefits are very low and therefore should NOT be taxable. We think this is pushing people even deeper into poverty.

The Government responsed to this petition on 25th April 2024 (View Full Response)
The tax treatment of social security benefits is based on the type of payment and why it is provided. Generally, benefits that are designed to replace income are taxable, including the State Pension.

Allow people to stay in the UK if their employer’s sponsor license is withdrawn - 16,554 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 20,648 - 36 added in the past 24hrs)

Employer sponsor licenses have been withdrawn by the Home Office because of different issues which are of no fault of the immigrant themselves. These immigrants are then given 60 days to find a new sponsor or face deportation.

The Government responsed to this petition on 9th April 2024 (View Full Response)
Sponsored work visas allow people into the UK for a set period of time to do specific jobs for a sponsor. Linking visas to sponsors provides safeguards but migrants are free to apply on another basis.

Extend cost of living payments to low income households beyond February 2024 - 18,757 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 19,949 - 18 added in the past 24hrs)

I don't think the cost of living crisis is going away anytime soon, however the Government intend to make the final payment in February 2024. I think many low income households are going to be feeling the impact of rising cost of living and will need support throughout the year.

The Government responsed to this petition on 1st February 2024 (View Full Response)
The Government has provided £104 billion over 2022-25 to help with the cost of living. We currently have no plans to extend Cost of Living Payments, however we keep all measures under constant review.

Government recognises that solar projects impact local areas. Our planning system considers these against the need to secure a clean energy future and protect our most productive agricultural land.

Ban the sale of plastic flying ring toys to help protect seals - 2,141 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 17,195 - 155 added in the past 24hrs)

Young seals sometimes find lost or discarded flying rings (any type of throwing ring). Being inquisitive, they sometimes play with them, putting their heads through the hole and becoming trapped. As they grow, the rings can cut into their necks, causing life threatening open wounds and often death.

Create a statutory offence of manslaughter by coercive or controlling behaviour - 16,859 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 16,944 - 38 added in the past 24hrs)

We want the Government to create a specific statutory offence of manslaughter by coercive or controlling behaviour. The legislation creating this offence should make it clear that it applies in cases where coercive or controlling behaviour cause someone to take their own life.

The Government responsed to this petition on 18th January 2024 (View Full Response)
The Government has no plans to create a specific offence of manslaughter caused by controlling or coercive behaviour. Existing law can already cover such circumstances.

(Estimated Final Signatures: 16,932 - 29 added in the past 24hrs)

We believe the UK Government should negotiate reciprocal agreements with the devolved administrations of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to allow the recognition and use of older person's bus passes across the whole of the UK.

The Government responsed to this petition on 23rd April 2024 (View Full Response)
The concessionary travel scheme is restricted to England as it is primarily intended to support local bus travel. Therefore, there are no plans to introduce mutual recognition of the separate schemes.

Require CCTV cameras on school transport for kids with special educational needs - 16,498 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 16,790 - 44 added in the past 24hrs)

Children with special educational needs are often transported to school via transport arranged through the council. We want cameras onboard to help ensure the safety of those onboard, and allow for the review of incidents involving students who may not be able to speak, report, or defend themselves.

The Government responsed to this petition on 9th February 2024 (View Full Response)
Safeguarding children is of paramount importance. We expect everyone involved in the delivery of school transport to take their responsibilities seriously but have no plans to require CCTV.
