Review the brightness of car headlights for safety - 13,665 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 14,522 - 11 added in the past 24hrs)

The Government should launch a review into the problem of some headlights causing oncoming traffic drivers to be unable to see clearly and safely. The review should be conducted with car manufacturers to find solutions.

The Government responsed to this petition on 27th March 2024 (View Full Response)
The Government has taken action internationally to address concerns raised about headlamp glare. Recognising the need for further evidence, we intend to commission independent research shortly.

Add a mobility element to Attendance Allowance - 13,745 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 14,504 - 8 added in the past 24hrs)

We want the Government to reform Attendance Allowance so that people with mobility issues can get a mobility element for this benefit, and so access the Motability Scheme. This would bring Attendance Allowance in line with PIP and DLA.

The Government responsed to this petition on 5th April 2024 (View Full Response)
1.4 million people are receiving Attendance Allowance worth £6 billion a year. Those who develop mobility needs in later life are able to spend this benefit on mobility aids if they wish.

Provide all pensioners born before April 1951 with the new State Pension - 13,044 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 14,267 - 12 added in the past 24hrs)

We would like the Government to provide all pensioners born before 6 April 1951 with the new state pension. The full new State Pension is over £200 more a month than the full basic pension. We believe this is unfair, and unjustifiable.

The Government responsed to this petition on 28th March 2024 (View Full Response)
The Government has no plans to provide all pensioners born before 6 April 1951 with the new State Pension.
Open Petition since 5th March 2024

Fund Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW) Research and Provide Support for Sufferers - 3,178 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 13,510 - 132 added in the past 24hrs)

We think research on TSW is crucial in creating diagnostic criteria, also to inform prevalence and aid in prevention. There’s growing awareness about the potential side effects of topical steroids, but until there is more action to address this, we are concerned patients will continue to suffer.

Reduce Vehicle Tax for cars aged between 20 and 40 years old - 12,876 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 13,470 - 7 added in the past 24hrs)

Under the current rules a car does not become exempt from Vehicle Tax until it is at least 40 years old. There are vehicles within the 20 to 40 year age bracket that are well loved, modern classics and without a reduction in tax, we may see these vehicles disappear from our roads.

The Government responsed to this petition on 4th April 2024 (View Full Response)
The Government has no plans to reduce the tax exemption age for classic cars from 40 to 20 years. While the Government keeps all taxes under review, we consider 40 years a fair cut-off date.
Open Petition since 8th March 2024

Make hedgehog surveys & mitigation measures compulsory for all new developments. - 10,339 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 13,263 - 22 added in the past 24hrs)

The way we develop land has a direct impact on hedgehog survival. Preserving existing habitats and incorporating hedgehog-friendly features into new developments are essential for reversing their decline.
Developers must be required to conduct hedgehog surveys & implement mitigation measures.

Require broadcasters to call proscribed terrorist organisations terrorists - 13,075 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 13,086 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)

Terrorism legislation should be amended to require all broadcasters regulated by Ofcom to describe all terrorist organisations proscribed in the UK and their operatives as “terrorists” and not by any descriptor, such as “militants”, which does not make their terrorist nature clear.

The Government responsed to this petition on 18th April 2024 (View Full Response)
Ofcom rules ensure broadcast news must be reported with due accuracy and impartiality. The Government is committed to a free media. It would not be right to dictate the language that journalists use.

We consider that Parliament must revoke The Climate Change Act 2008 and related Net Zero targets as since 2008 when the The Climate Change Act became law many hundreds of scientists up to the highest Nobel Laureate level have jointly declared "There is no climate emergency".
