Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what guidance his Department issues on the incineration of medical waste in the East of England.
Answered by Karin Smyth - Minister of State (Department of Health and Social Care)
The Department does not currently hold this information. However, the national guidance for the National Health Service’s clinical waste strategy is available at the following link:
https://www.england.nhs.uk/long-read/nhs-clinical-waste-strategy/
Organisations across integrated care systems, such as NHS trusts, would have their own policies on how to enact this guidance.

Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will make an assessment of the potential merits of extending the Universal Care Plan for London to the East of England.
Answered by Karin Smyth - Minister of State (Department of Health and Social Care)
The Department is not planning to make an assessment of the potential merits of extending the Universal Care Plan, as this would be a decision for local determination by commissioners and their providers.
As we work towards a single patient record, we will be engaging with the public, professions, and stakeholders to understand what matters to them, and we will be keen to hear their experience of local or regional programmes, to join up data to support patient care.

Question to the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero:
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, if he will meet local community representatives in the East of England to discuss the potential impact of the proposed Norwich to Tilbury project under the great grid upgrade on those communities.
Answered by Michael Shanks - Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Department for Energy Security and Net Zero)
It is the responsibility of the developers of electricity network projects – in this case National Grid Electricity Transmission - to propose a route and obtain planning permission for that route. The government sets the rules for a robust and independent planning process that communities can participate in, with consultation being a central element of the planning process. Any engagement by Ministers must consider the role of the Secretary of State in deciding on planning applications for energy projects, and the limitations on discussing live projects in the development process which have not come to the Planning Inspectorate.
