Require all military sexual offence claims be handled by civilian police
- 182 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 182 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
I want all claims of sexual offences to be handled by civilian police rather than military police. I believe the military police do not have the training and expertise to investigate these cases or support victims, and that all such cases should be handled by the civilian police.
Record all proceedings at magistrates’ courts
- 140 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 179 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
Proceedings within Magistrates Courts are not recorded. That means anything said in court is not recorded, unlike in a majority of courts. Magistrates have the power to imprison defendants for up to 6 months and without a record, defendants cannot prove issues such as perjury on oath.
Require sexual assault and rape cases be heard by multiple judges, with no jury
- 40 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 150 - 3 added in the past 24hrs)
I want sexual assault and rape cases to be decided by multiple judges who will then make a group decision, rather than guilt being decided by a jury. This would mean decisions are made by professionals who have studied and understand the law, rather than members of the public.
Make spiking an indictable offence with minimum of 3 months prison and area bans
- 132 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 150 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
Spiking should be an indictable offence with a minimum sentence of 3 months, which increases with repeat offending. Area banning orders should also be used. This could help root out repeat offenders and keep our nightlife as safe as possible.
Stop allowing criminals to appeal their sentences
- 29 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 140 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
I do not think that criminals who have been convicted and sentenced for their crime(s) should be allowed to appeal their sentence.
Change the law so women can be prosecuted for rape under the relevant Act
- 48 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 138 - 3 added in the past 24hrs)
The Sexual Offences Act 2003 states that only a man can commit rape. However, women can use other parts of the body to penetrate another person and use a male to penetrate themselves. Therefore, I think all penetration should be included in section 1 of the Act.
Introduce tougher sentences for one punch assaults that kill
- 100 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 132 - 2 added in the past 24hrs)
I believe the sentencing for one punch assaults that kill should be tougher and increased to equal a murder charge.
Take action to support families where a parent is convicted of domestic violence
- 40 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 126 - 2 added in the past 24hrs)
We want the Government to require parents convicted of domestic violence to take behavioural courses, offer counselling to their children, and offer support to the other parent on how to co-parent with an abuser.
Require 30-year minimum prison term for premeditated murder regardless of age
- 34 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 122 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
Change the law to ensure younger people face more serious repercussions for a prosecution for premeditated murder. We want a statutory minimum of 30 years, no matter the age.
Make lying and spreading of disinformation in public office a criminal offence
- 104 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 117 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
To make it a criminal offence when it is demonstrable that a person or persons in public office has/have knowingly lied and/or spread disinformation and/or suppressed factual information.
