Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what estimate his Department has made of the total cost to the public purse of the Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers.
Answered by Harriett Baldwin - Shadow Minister (Development)
The approved cost of the programme to build both Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers is £6.2 billion. The Department keeps costs within the programme under very close scrutiny, and industry is incentivised to manage cost pressures.
