Exploitation of Missing Looked-after Children
"I beg to move,
That this House has considered the matter of sexual and criminal exploitation of missing looked after children.
It is a pleasure to serve under your chairmanship, Mr Evans. In 2012, an expert working group was set up by the then children’s Minister, the hon. Member for …..."Ann Coffey - View Speech

Exploitation of Missing Looked-after Children
"I totally agree with my hon. Friend’s comments about the new computer system. A system that cannot manage information in a way that keeps children safe is not fit for purpose, so I am pleased he has raised that point.
Moving children to unknown and unfamiliar placements, particularly at short …..."Ann Coffey - View Speech

Exploitation of Missing Looked-after Children
"I recognise some of the good initiatives from the Department for Education over the years, but as I said there are not enough places to allow local authorities to make a choice about what is in the best interests of the child. They are placing children in placements hundreds of …..."Ann Coffey - View Speech

Exploitation of Missing Looked-after Children
"It has been an excellent debate. The area is complex, and each of the contributions has reflected that complexity. The hon. Member for Bedford (Mohammad Yasin) has clearly seen the impact of unregulated accommodation in his constituency, which I know is a hotspot for county lines activity.
It is also …..."Ann Coffey - View Speech

Asked by:
Ann Coffey (The Independent Group for Change - Stockport)
Question
to the HM Treasury:
To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, what representations he has had on the number of complaints to the Financial Ombudsman in relation to the misselling of packaged bank accounts; and if he will make a statement.
Answered by Harriett Baldwin
- Shadow Minister (Business and Trade)
The Government has not received any representations on the number of complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) in relation to the mis-selling of packaged bank accounts.
The FOS publishes an annual review of the complaints handled by the service. Its most recent report, including details of the complaints it has received about packaged bank accounts, can be accessed online at www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/ar15/ar15pdf. In addition, Treasury ministers meet with the Chief Ombudsman to discuss the Financial Ombudsman Service’s work.

Question
to the HM Treasury:
To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, what steps he plans to take to enable disputes relating to tax credits to be dealt with by email correspondence.
Answered by David Gauke
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) cannot guarantee that emails sent between HMRC and customers will not be intercepted. Disputes of this nature usually include confidential customer data that neither the customer nor HMRC would wish to put at risk of interception. Therefore HMRC does not encourage email as a form of communication with customers.
However HMRC does recognise the demand for more digital communication with customers. As part of HMRC’s Digital Roadmap they will be introducing a secure personal digital account through which income tax, national insurance and tax credit services can be accessed.
Within the accounts will be a range of service options allowing customers to not only self-serve but also communicate with HMRC digitally through web chat and secure messaging.

Retail is Britain’s largest private sector employer, providing 2.9 million jobs and representing more than 10% of total UK employment. In my constituency, more …..."Ann Coffey - View Speech

That will have a devastating impact on my constituents who are affected, but it will also lead to loss of confidence by those with jobs that they will have jobs in the future, which might …..."Ann Coffey - View Speech
