To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what steps his Department is taking to support the development of grassroots rugby league across the UK.

Since 2010 Sport England has invested £32.8 million of National Lottery and Grant-in-Aid funding in the Rugby Football League, local rugby league clubs and community projects to support the development of grassroots rugby league. Rugby League’s Whole Sport Plan funding is now a mix of investment in the RFL and in club foundation community projects.

The UK's selection competition for the title of 2023 European Capital of Culture is due to be launched before the end of 2016. The DCMS will consider how best to support potential bidders closer to the time. The award to Liverpool as a European Capital of Culture in 2008 has been of great benefit to the city, and we look forward to similar successes in the future.

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what assessment he has made of the potential effects of proposed changes to rules on community amateur sports clubs on junior clubs.

The proposed changes to the Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) regime will ensure a robust and compliant system is in place to help grassroots clubs, including junior clubs, support those who want to play sport whilst claiming appropriate tax advantages. The Government is committed to supporting grassroots sport and to providing opportunities for increased participation.

There are no plans to recommend to Her Majesty The Queen that any change should be made to the UK National Anthem, nor are there any plans to introduce an official English Anthem.
