To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what criteria his Department applies when assessing claimants with mental health issues for Personal Independence Payments.

All claims to Personal Independence Payment are assessed against all ten daily living activities and two mobility activities as set out in Schedule 1 of the Social Security (Personal Independence Payment) Regulations 2013 and other provisions relating to entitlement or payment. These numbers are provided in the Table below.

Between April 2013 and June 2016, the latest dates for which data is available, 4% of Personal Independence Payment decisions were overturned at appeal.
