Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how many members of the armed forces have been made redundant in (a) Preston, (b) Lancashire and (c) the North West in (i) 2010, (ii) 2011, (iii) 2012, (iv) 2013 and (v) 2014.
Answered by Anna Soubry
The table below shows how many members of the Armed Forces have been made redundant in Preston, Lancashire and the North West in each calendar year between 2010 and 2014.
LOCAL AUTHORITY AREA | YEAR/NUMBER OF TRAINED UK REGULAR ARMED FORCES PERSONNEL WHO LEFT ON REDUNDANCY
2010 | 2011 | 2012 | 2013 | 2014
North West | - | - | 90 | 100 | 40 |
Lancashire | - | - | 50 | 40 | 30 |
Preston | - | - | 20 | 20 | ~ |
“-“ zero
“~” fewer than five
Where rounding has been used, totals and sub-totals have been rounded separately and so may not equal the sums of their rounded parts. When rounding to the nearest 10, numbers ending in “five” have been rounded to the nearest multiple of 20.
The figures are based on the stationed location of Service personnel and not their location of residence. Personnel deployed on operations to an area away from their stationed location are shown against their most recent stationed location.

Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what funds from the defence budget are allocated for mental healthcare for veterans returning from Afghanistan.
Answered by Anna Soubry
Mental healthcare and support is provided for all serving Armed Forces personnel, both regulars and reserve, and resources are not specifically designated for a particular operation. Because of the many ways in which mental healthcare is provided and funded, it is not possible to provide a cost figure that covers all the numerous care streams, which may include treatment by GPs in primary care facilities, out-patient treatment in military Departments of Community Mental Health, and in-patient care in specialist NHS units.
Responsibility for the delivery of healthcare to ex-Service personnel rests with the NHS and Devolved Administrations. As part of the Government's 2011 mental health strategy, No Health Without Mental Health, over £7million in additional funding has been made available over four years to help ensure that ex-Service personnel with mental health problems also get the very best care.

Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, whether the UK is deploying any military assets to assist the NATO patrol over Ukraine.
Answered by Mark Francois
NATO is not patrolling Ukranian airspace. Therefore, nor is the UK. However, the UK is contributing an E3-D aircraft to the NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Force flying in NATO airspace and it will be deploying four Typhoon aircraft to enhance the Polish rotation of NATO's peacetime Baltic Air Policing mission, which polices NATO airspace.
