Question to the Ministry of Justice:
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many people have been convicted of illegal working since the introduction of that offence.

The Ministry of Justice holds data on convictions for illegal working covering the period requested and this can be viewed in the Outcomes by Offence tool: June 2023.
The offence ‘illegal working’ can be found using the following HO code; 19464.
This can be accessed by navigating to the ‘Prosecutions and convictions’ tab and using the HO Offence Code filter to select the above offence in the Outcomes by Offence data tool.

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many people have been convicted of the offence of illegal working under Section 34 of the Immigration Act 2016 since the introduction of that offence.

The Ministry of Justice publishes information on the number convictions between 2017 and 2021, for the offence of illegal working in the Outcomes by Offence data tool: December 2021.
Information on the number of people convicted prior to 2017 can be found in the Principal offence proceedings and outcomes by Home Office offence code data tool, however, there are no convictions for illegal working in this period.
