Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what the (a) in service dates and (b) out of service dates are for the UK's multiple-launch rocket systems.

In service date - 1990

Out of service date - 2050

As part of the Army’s modernisation programme the department has invested in the recapitalisation of our M270 tracked missile launcher system (that had an original in-service date of 1990) and various missile types to complement our current Guided Multi Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) munition stock. The Army’s current M270 launchers have now entered the recapitalisation process with a planned Initial Operating Capability of 2026. The recapitalised launchers have a planned out of service date of 2050.
