We strongly support the UN sanctions regime on South Sudan, and played a leading role in the recent implementation of EU sanctions, announced on 2 February, to discourage the obstruction of the peace process.

While the EU and the US both have arms embargoes in place, there is currently no UN arms embargo on South Sudan. The UK strongly supports the implemention of a UN arms embargo, and we are working towards this with our international partners.
