The UK has not had any recent discussions with the US administration about its bilateral economic sanctions regime, which it decided to lift on 6 October last year. The US decision, welcomed by the UK, was an important step in Sudan's re-engagement with the international community. We continue to work with the Government of Sudan towards a more peaceful, prosperous country for all Sudanese citizens.

The UK is subject to and continues to support the UN arms embargo on Darfur, and the EU arms embargo on the whole of Sudan.
