Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Defence Estate Optimisation Portfolio published in November 2016, what the (a) original and (b) updated projected estimate was of savings to his Department of the planned disposal of Claro Barracks by 2019.

The move of 21 Engr Regt from Claro Barracks to Marne Barracks is part of the single biggest estates change programme within Defence that will invest £5.1 billion in a more modern and sustainable estate that improves security and resilience, and also achieves significant social benefits and running cost savings of c£4.9 billion through the disposal of surplus sites.
