Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will increase the annual level of ringfenced funding that children’s hospices receive from NHS England to £25 million to reflect the changing number of seriously ill children whom they are caring for.
The Children’s Hospice Grant is awarded annually and administered by NHS England. It is a contribution towards the operating costs of the hospices, not core funding for NHS services, for which the statutory responsibility resides with local commissioners. In 2018/19 £11 million has been provided to children’s hospices through the Grant.
