Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what steps she is taking to tackle illegal data processing of telephone conversations without consent.
Section 3 of the Investigatory Powers Act creates the offence of unlawful interception.
The offence is committed if a person intentionally and without lawful authority intercepts a communication in the course of its transmission, in the UK by means of either a public postal service or a public or private telecommunications system.
