Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how many civilians were employed during the construction of the recently launched HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier.
This question was answered on 3rd July 2017
Around 10,000 jobs have been sustained in designing and constructing the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers. This includes 7,000 to 8,000 workers at shipyards around the UK plus a further 2,000 to 3,000 across the UK supply chain.
