Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what effect the (a) response of the Government of Sudan to the recent protests in that country and (b) Troika government's statement published on 8 January 2019 will have on the UK-Sudan Strategic Dialogue due to take place in 2019.

​We continue to monitor closely the Government of Sudan's response to the recent protests, and to express our concern at the current situation, both bilaterally and as part of the Troika with the US and Norway. As we made clear with Troika partners and Canada in our statement of 8 January, the Government of Sudan's response to these protests will have an impact on the approach to engagement of our governments and others in the coming months and years.
