Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what assessment he has made of the findings of the recent report by HM Inspectorate of Prisons on HMP Hewell.

A new Governor was appointed shortly before the inspectorate visit as part of performance improvement measures and the Chief Inspector acknowledged the positive impact since his appointment. The Governor is now producing an action plan in response to the inspection. Remedial actions and timescales are being identified to improve all areas of identified weakness. Action plan progress will be monitored by NOMS internal audit mechanism and the prison rating system.
