Building the capacity of local institutions is vital to help lay the foundations for future development in South Sudan. The UK is a lead contributor to the South Sudan Humanitarian Fund which has, for the last five years, provided funding to local NGOs including a significant percentage for internal capacity development.

In addition, through the Health Pooled Fund and Girls Education South Sudan programmes we work alongside local institutions to maintain and develop their capacity to deliver basic services to the population, despite very low levels of government investment.
