Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, in how many and what proportion of cases the maximum sentence for each offence was given in (a) Crown Courts and (b) Magistrates' Courts in the latest year for which figures are available.

The information requested could only be collated at substantial cost.
