Question to the Ministry of Justice:
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many people who have served an indeterminate sentence for public protection have re-offended after release; and (a) how many and (b) which offences have been committed by such re-offenders in each of the last five years.
The independent Parole Board will direct the release of a prisoner serving a sentence of Imprisonment for Public Protection (IPP) only where it assesses that it is no longer necessary on the grounds of public protection for the prisoner to be detained in custody.
Data on offenders released on IPP licences who have committed offences are not held centrally in a readily accessible format. To obtain these data would exceed cost limits.
