As set out at Spring Budget, the Government is keen to ensure that government spending is not just narrowly focused on where it will bring the highest immediate return, but also on where it may unlock the productive potential of an area and achieve broader long-term benefits. We are continuing the review of the Green Book and our processes for allocating spending to ensure that all regions and nations of the UK have the opportunity to spread and drive growth. This process will conclude later in the year and the findings of the review will inform this year’s Spending Review.
