Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what the projected whole life costs for the Future Defence Infrastructure Services programme were in (a) 2022 and (b) 2023.
There has been no movement in the projected end date for the Future Defence Infrastructure Services (FDIS) contracts between 2022 and 2023. The projected end date for the contracts can be found in the table below:
Contract | End Date |
FDIS Built Estate Scotland & Northern Ireland | 14 December 2028 |
FDIS Built Estate Central | 31 January 2029 |
FDIS Built Estate South West | 31 January 2029 |
FDIS Built Estate South East | 31 March 2029 |
Regional Accommodation Maintenance Services North | 28 February 2029 |
Regional Accommodation Maintenance Services Central | 28 February 2029 |
Regional Accommodation Maintenance Services South West | 28 February 2029 |
Regional Accommodation Maintenance Services South East | 28 February 2029 |
National Accommodation Management Services | 28 February 2029 |
Training Estate Services Contract | 30 November 2030 |
All contracts include the ability to extend for up to three years.
The 2022 and 2023 projected whole life costs of the Future Defence Infrastructure Service contracts can be found in the table below:
Future Defence Infrastructure Services Contracts | 2022 Projected Whole Life Costs | 2023 Projected Whole Life Costs |
Built Estate x4 | £1,615 miilion | £1,750 million |
Accommodation x5 | £690 million | £1,047 million |
Training Estate Support | £597 million | £728 million |
The 2023 whole life costs of the core contract for accommodation includes £242 million of grounds maintenance. This element was included in the core contract with effect from 1 April 2023. With this exception, the principal driver for the increase in cost from the original whole life costs of the core contract to now, is inflation.
