Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps she is taking to help ensure an adequate number of call handlers for the 999 emergency services line.
As set out in Our Plan for Patients and the National Health Service’s (NHS) plan to increase capacity and operational resilience in urgent and emergency care ahead of winter, the NHS will boost ambulance call handlers to 2,500 by December 2022, supported by a £1.3 million national recruitment campaign.
