Question to the Ministry of Justice:
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, if she will devolve responsibilities for courts and the Crown Prosecution Service to (a) the Mayor of London, (b) other mayors and (c) other combined authorities; and if she will make a statement.
The Ministry of Justice is open to considering proposals to give a greater influence over criminal justice to local areas where the evidence shows this will make local justice more effective. As an independent Prosecutor, the Crown Prosecution Service is not the responsibility of the Ministry of Justice but is superintended by the Attorney General.
